How long after the expected delivery date can I file a claim?

You may file a claim at any time. However, please note that ShipInsure will only consider approving a claim after a given time period for certain scenarios. The purpose of these waiting periods is to avoid common errors, such as a delivery going to an unexpected place on the premesis or a carrier prematurely marking a package as "delivered" while still en-route.

If a package is presumed stolen, or is marked "delivered" by the carrier but is missing from the destination, ShipInsure will wait two days before considering that claim for approval. If the package is still missing after that time, ShipInsure will then consider the claim.

If the carrier has notified the shopper that the package is lost before it has been delivered, ShipInsure will wait two days before considering that claim for approval. If the package is still missing after that time, ShipInsure will then consider the claim.

If the order is not delivered past the expected delivery date, ShipInsure will wait fourteen days before considering that claim for approval. If the carrier's status of the order is unchanged through that time, ShipInsure will then consider the claim.

Please note: if the carrier marks a package as delivered, you have a maximum of fourteen days to file a claim from the date the carrier changed the status to "delivered". If you wait longer than fourteen days after the status was changed to "delivered" to file your claim, ShipInsure cannot approve your claim.
